I for one am tired of the U.N. pushing America around. There is a worldwide movement supported by the UN to ban civilian ownership of firearms, censor the internet, and generally restrict the freedoms of people around the world, including America.
Americans, are you willing to allow the UN to drag you down to the lowest common denominator, stripping you of your rights and freedoms? Remember, most of the UN members are socialist, communist, or dictorship countries.
What do you think? Should America remain in the UN or should it leave, and withdraw its funding?

I say, get the heck out of the UN. Its corrupt enough as it is, and I don't think Annan leaving is going to change that. Let it implode without its major economic and military backer spoon feeding it.

Why are you scared of the U.N. The U.N. has no power at all. All we have to do is veto whatever they are trying to do because we are a permanent member, and permanent members get veto power. Just like Soviet Union did from 46-90 they vetoed everything the U.N. tried to impose. U.N. is really weak, it can't push any country around let alone the United States. The best thing for the U.S. is to be a part of the U.N. because then at least we have a way to stop the U.N. from doing something stupid.

one thing about this yahoo answers website, its made me realize how many idiots are out there that think we live in a John Wayne movie and that the US simply doing whatever the heck it wants in the world, in total disregard for anyone else, is acceptable, or good for us as a nation.
Also amusing is people that portray the US as a "victim" ... since when is the king of the world a victim.
The UN pushing America around??
I think the correct analysis, is the UN trying to enfore the standards that it hold everybody else to, as well as the standards the US stood for since WWII up until this current administration (generally speaking).
Our current disregard for world law in many forms is undercutting the very system that has led to our wealth as a nation in the last 50 years.
As far as the UN being corrupt, what most don't know is what a large role we had in that.

Whether it does or it does not, both the U.S. and the U.N. have proven to be a non entity where peace keeping is concerned as well as foreign policy. Since the Cuban Missile Crisis both entities have practiced a rather dazed world view with attendant consequences. If public information is reliable, it was Jack Kennedy's need to be on steroids while suffering from war injuries to his back that really made the decision in that particular event.
American money is usually ill spent and in the wrong direction. Maybe it's time the head and the body started talking to each other.

look at what you are fighting for.....people to have possession of firearms.....internet to be uncensored....No guns no killings....Cant you see the direction this world is heading towards,..have you not noticed what guns and what certain people have used the internet for? We need to get together to fight for a better GOOD...and its not about losing our freedoms..its about restricting the BAD and the destruction of ourselves. True freedom is having peace and feeling safe in the world we live in...this is FREEDOM.......So america should be a part of whatever group, like UN, and they have yo follow their responsibility which is that they have to look at the benefit and good of the nation

no.
being a member of the UN legitimizes our actions around the world.
Also, the UN isn't telling us to ban civilian ownership of guns, to censor the internet, or to generally restrict the freedoms we have here in the us.

There have been at least 50 times that the UN was going to take action against ISRAEL for slaughtering women and children. In each case the US vetoed the action. If we were not there the UN would do something about ISRAEL

the U.N. will disappear in fact if we remove them from our shores.
If they stay remove immunity from their employees so they quit riding rough shod over the laws and customs of the host country.
I believe in live and let live, unfortunately many of the members say they do, their actions say something else.
At most they are a bunch of talk, with a lot of political stance taking.
