the interrment of Japanese Americans was one of the worst mistakes the US has ever made.
But they did that because Italy or Germany never attacked the US...only the Japanese. Plus you have the whole racist thing happening as well.

Because there were more japanese to encamp than there were Germans.
With the mass immigration of japanese into the country, there were plenty to have interned.
Besides, Germans and Italians were already established and had an identity in the U.S. The japanese didn't. So whatever americans at the time knew was from the government trying to give the japanese a bad image.

I wasn't around during the time, therefore cannot assess the fear and anger towards the Japanese which explains why there was very little outrage (at the time) from the general public. They brutally attacked us on Pearl Harbor, which is why their nationality was targeted. Unlike German and Italian nationalities; their mother countries never attacked US soil.
Plus, I'm certain the number of people in the US with Japanese heritage were much lower than those with German and Italian; something to ponder!
Overall, should we have done it: ethically speaking,no.

because the feeling at that time was asians were untrustworthy, they seen japanese as collective and not as first or 2nd generation settlers. it didnt matter if mr miyamoto and his family had lived in america for 7 generations he was an enemy, but his next door neighbour mr spaltz 3rd generation german was a true upstanding american. its all about ethnic classification. european good, asian bad!
