i got banned from a forum because my friend was messing around on there and they said it was my IP Address that was doing it. How is that possible?

I did set up the account for him but that was months ago.

If you set up the account for him from you Internet connection, then the forum probably has your IP associated with his username.

If you setup his account from your computer, then it's your IP they banned whether or not it was you doesn't matter...I'm an admin on a forum myself....and IP is and IP...You made the mistake of trusting your friend to behave, and used your computer to register him on that forum...so you're screwed....Thank your friend for that and never use your computer to register someone else.
Also, trying to register again under another name isn't going to work either because the ban is by IP not name.
