I know you are looking for older films, but if you're into the anti-hero, loner characters....you might like 'Escape from New York' by John Carpenter...
The character Snake Plissken has some similarities to Riddick...
Of course, check out 'Pitch Black' which first introduced the character of Riddick....

I would recommend Pitch Black as it has the same character in that movie (though it is a bit older than Riddick). It's actually a much better movie however but beaware its more of a sci-fi horror film than Riddick is.
As for other great sci-fi films that have come out since The Chronicles of Riddick in a similar vein, I am just not sure there have been any. If you like the sci-fi genre I could recommend a number of fairly good films but most of them would be older.
StarShip Troopers
Aliens
Twelve Monkeys
The only really good sci-fi movie I know of that has come out since Riddick I cannot personally vouch for as I have not seen it. The Children Of Men though was said to be excellent including a scene that is nearly 18 minutes long that was filmed in a single take.

One of my favorite movies that falls into an anti-hero vein, although not quite as dark as Riddick, is "Serenity".
Here's a plot synopsis: Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds is a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family--squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers--a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister--he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the their corner of the galaxy, who will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the outskirts of the galaxy unnoticed find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers, savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to them may be on board Serenity herself.
Pros: The lead, Malcolm Reynolds, has a brash, sarcastic personality fairly reminiscent of Han Solo, a-la Star Wars. The movie has been developed around an ensemble cast instead of an outshining main character. The characters still act like humans with everyday lives, making them a bit more believable. And the movie as a whole doesn't take itself so seriously as to seem campy.
Cons: There are moments of humor and everyday mishaps that some people don't like in their perfect little Sci-Fi universe. But I think these more human elements make the story more intriguing.
Nowadays, it seems if a movie doesn't go thru the Stargate, have soap-opera dramas played out on a Battlestar, or have the name "Lucas" attached to it, odds are the movie will be some pretty campy crap or a cheesy horror flic wrapped in a Sci-Fi wrapper. But I think you will be pleasantly surprised with "Serenity".

Probably the greatest science fiction film of all time is "blade runner" starring Harrison Ford. It is about a man
who seems born to track down human-like robots who have escaped from their assigned roles, and have run amok in a
sense. Some of them are murderers, or maybe all. He tracks them down, and kills them (hence the title of the film). But he falls in love with one of them, and the film ends happily with the two of them going off together in married bliss. The sus-
picion remains that perhaps (very likely) HE himself is a robot. The plot sounds so familiar as I sum it up, that I wonder if is not the same plot of several other pictures.
