I am looking to haul my horse on the east cost a good long distance. I need something reaonsbly priced but priority is of course that she will be cared for well. Who have people had good experiences with?

Buying a trailor is not an option. I would have to as well buy a truck, I have no interest in this. This is a one time 800+mile trip.

I hauled horses recently from Connecticut to Ohio and then from Ohio down to Florida. The first company I used was Apreal Horse Trucking. They were very nice, courteous, and safe. They brought my horse in on time and stayed in contact. The rig was clean, new, and safe. The second company I used from Ohio to Connecticut was C and M Horse Trucking. They were absolutely the best I've ever worked with. They have safe 18 wheelers, which weathered even a sudden snowstorm in the midst of their trip. They called several times with updates and kept a close eye on all the horses.

Another good shipper is Holly Hill Transport. I haven't used them personally, but I put clients' horses on their vans and I've spoken with the owner and driver. They know what they're doing, that's for sure. They have 18 wheelers and their vehicles are very well-maintained.

800 miles really isn't too terribly far. Perhaps you can find a local show barn and see if your horse can hitch a ride with someone who is doing the show circuit... "hopscotching it" I call it. I am a horse trainer and have lived throughout the US. I have contacts on the eastcoast. What state is the horse in and what state are you trying to get to?

I am not familiar with too many farms in the New England states. I will do some research. My span is FLA/GA to Ohio and Westward. Where is your destination?

Okay first of all the asker said they aren't going to buy a trailer because they'd have to buy a truck....

I think your best bet is the first answer. I used a car transport before and they sucked ***, so I do everything myself now. But since you don't have that luxury, and since a horse is a living thing and you could sue if they mistreat him, you can't really lose.

I used Equine Express and had really good luck with them. They hauled a mare from North Carolina to Texas for me, had her in a nice roomy box, took good care of her. I had checked around on prices, they weren't the highest priced but def not the cheapest either.

I have used Beacon Hill Horse Transportation to go and pick a horse up for me. They seemed know what they was really doing, or you could go to yahoo search and get name for horse transportation locator so then you could get the one that suits you best.

OK, *don't* buy yourself a small horse trailer and *don't* haul her yourself. I was just trying to be helpful.
