He told me not to do any driving, strenouis activity, etc. but now when I get up I get lightheaded and somewhat dizzy. but sitting down I feel fine, I also can eat, drink, without getting sick or throwing up. is the dizziness all part of after head injury's?

Take things easy for a while like they told you. If you start developing a headache or feeling/being sick then you need to return to the hospital.

If your dizziness persists or worsens then phone the hospital.

Yes, most likely it is just an after effect of your head injury. When you have a concussion you should try to stay awake, and have a friend or family member monitor you to make sure you are ok, specially while you are still having symptoms.

How long ago did the unjury happen? I'm assuming since you went to the hospital it has been at least an hour?

You should try to stay awake for at least 5 hours after a head injury as fatigue is also a symptom of a concussion.

The mild symptoms of Post concussion syndrome are probably secondary to microscopic neuronal damage. There is usually no evidence on CT scan of structural damage. The period of recovery is probably dictated by the length of time the brain requires to heal this damage. The symptoms are usually fully resolved in 3 months... though 15% of patients may still have symptoms in 12 months. If the dizziness is present without the stimulus of spinning around, then it may be a post concussion syndrome symptom, but if it is just bought about by rotation, then probably not. If you are concerned you should see your family physician.

Yes. It is. Concussion results from slamming your brain against your skull and it takes a while to recover. I'm glad you went to the doctor, but what you need to do now is follow his advice and avoid driving, strenuou activity etc. You will continue to be lightheaded and somewhat dizzy for a while, but that will gradually ease. You can go for walks (as long as you aren't power walking) and that can help speed up your recovery.

Yeah, I had that for a few months (off and on).
You managed to kill some brain cells there, so the connections between your brain cells are trying hard to re-wire themselves. Expects to get confused pretty easy when it comes to some things as well.
Seven years later I still have a hard time learning new idioms, or understanding people with certain accents.
Go figure. The brain in the most complicated 2 pound universe there is.

Yes dizziness can be a symptom of a concussion. If it doesn't get better in a day or so you may want to call the doctor. If you get any other symptoms you should call the doctor too.

You'll be alright, you will be better, if you just go with the flow of the brains way of healing its self. Don't get upset when you wake up with that confusing buzz, just relax and wait until you feel better. Try breathing through the nose and blow out through the mouth and then do the opposite, air-ate the brain, it helps. Also try brain teasers that are short term memory, mid term and long term, this works both sides of the brain. It gets better as time passes by.

Just keep it easy for a couple days. You may have slightly bruised something.
If your eye site is not blurred, you are not throwing up, you can walk, and no migrain you should pull out of it fine.
I had my skull stapled up after a head injury. No one wants this!!
You should do fine just take it easy like the doctor said....
I wish you a quick recovery!!

Yes, confusion, inability to remember events immediately before hitting your head, DIZZINESS, blurred vision, headaches. If new symptoms appear, drowsiness, difficulty breathing, visual disturbances.. report back to dr. as it could mean more damage was done. Dizziness should subside within a few days, if not you need to report back to dr. to have it further investigated.
