My son fell off a slide 3 ft in the air and neither one of his teachers seen the acident and they didn't bother to call an ambulance although anyone who nows anything about first aide knows you do not move a person if they have a head injury which he landed on his head, and shoulders. The school did call me and I took my son to the emergency room. Right now I am pretty up set and am debating on what to say because I don't want to blow up but I would like some suggestions on what to do. I have asked a few close friends but I think they where just saying what they thought I wanted to hear. Or what they felt would be some excitement for them.

The teachers should have been aware of the incident, at least as far as giving first aid. I would make an appointment with the Principal and see what s/he has to say. If the answer in your opinion is trying to dodge the issue, then get a lawyer. As said, however, cool off first.

If your child sustained no serious injury, I would just go off on the teahcers for lack of paying attention while in their "care". Possibly speak with their superiors and ask for some sort of disciplinary action.

Being your child is so young and falling from only 3ft. chances are he is unharmed. However, if you child did receive a nasty injury, I would seek legal counsel in short order.

My child fell from a childseat provided by a restaurant and landed on nothing but her head. The knot it created on her forehead immediately instilled fear of brain injury, trauma and whatever else we could think of out of fear.

After my anger subsided, and we found out there was no lasting damage, I went back to the restaurant and had some Managers a$$ for dessert. They stopped using the chairs and got a safer style to avoid the lawsuit I threatened had they not complied.

All this said to say, if he's not injured, and there is no fault of the playground equipment, then just have you some dessert. It'll help you feel better and hopefully remedy the problem. ;-)

Either way, be calm when you make your decision and don't let emotion stand in the way of rational thinking...

Certainly the school must know about this, and the poor reaction to the incident. Make sure that they know how unhappy you are with the behaviour of the teachers, but don't threaten legal action unless you hit a brick wall. Your expenses must be recouped from the school, I feel, although I don't know the legal situation in your country. Sound them out to see what they are likely to do, and only seek legal advice (expensive) if you have to.
I'm not a fan of 'unspecified damages' - they can do unspecified damage to the finances of the school, but it's your decision in the end.

It depends - are you upset that he COULD have been injured. Well, thats nonsense. Every moment of the day you COULD be injured.
But if he WAS injured, thats something else.
Good Luck - I hope he turns out to be fine.

As far as what to say - tell them you have concerns that the teachers do not know basic first aid. But dont expect them to be paramedics - thats asking too much.

It depends. If he was seriously injured, then definitely yes. If injured but not seriously, maybe, especially if it's costing you a lot in medical bills. If not injured at all, not worth it. They do have a duty to keep your child safe but not everybody can be perfect.

If the doctor in the Emergency Room said he was alright and he seems to be okay, then I would let it go. You have to pick your battles.

if your child is OK then thats the main thing - what your "so called friends" think is for them to deal with

if you feel that that your child has been neglected - then thats up to you to persue

You cant forever blame your school for things - Kids are kids and they do stuff - stuff that frightens us - let them get on with it

Well how hurt is he?
Kids do what kids do.
If he has no long term injury I wouldn't bother.
