My lil' sister's class pet day is coming up and she wants to take my beardie. Do you think it's okay to let him go. My mom says that we shouldn't take him away from his surroundings, but I want to see if you know. Any experience?

I just moved, and took mine 6 hours in the car. He was fine. He was in a different cage then he was used to and everything, and he didn't have a problem at all.

You do have to be careful with the reptile leashes. I got one for mine, and it was the proper size for him. I had it snug on him, and I was going to take him to walk in the park with me, and he jumped from my shoulder. And struggled like crazy and wiggled his way out of the leash. So, I'm skeptical about the leashes now.

If you do get him a little reptile carrier, don't put just regular sand inside there, because that can block their digestive track and end up killing them. They have a special lizard sand made out of calcium that's safe for all lizards.

It will be fine. You can buy special reptile leashes and leash train a beardie to walk on a leash. I have one that is leash trained and loves to go for walks to the park. As a matter of fact I also have leopard geckos, mali uromastyx, and skinks. They are all leash trained. I never leave my house without a lizard.

it's fine. a small lizard-proof container will keep him ok. lizards are usually not high stress animals.

plus, i think it's awesome to have him be an ambassador for reptiles. maybe some other kids will talk their folks into letting them have a beardie because of it.

i used to take mine in my car all the time! as long as its not cold outside, your beardie will be ok. mine used to sit on my shoulder and look all around all happy. i know some pet stores carry reptile leashes and reptile carrying tanks. theyre smaller and plastic. just put some sand in there and he'll be happy.
