It's really hard to tell sometimes, mine didn't even start to look fat until 3 days before she gave birth! Some of them would go crazy making the perfect nest about a week before they had babies. Good luck!

First of all the symptoms are 1. she will get moody toward you and the male, 2. she will form a nest, 3. she will get two large humps on her hips and look fatter. Take the male out, clean the bedding, make sure she has a water bottle and not a water bowl. Be sure that the cage is not easily escaped by the litter or the mom. Put the cage inside a tub of some sort so if the litter escapes you can replace it. Don't use a water dish 'cause the litter may drown. Clean the bedding 'cause you can't mess with the mom or litter, or stress the mom for at least 2-3 weeks after birth. Good Luck.

If you can get her to waddle into a pint glass so you can look up at her underside...This is a nice safe way to see if your dwarf hamster is pregnant. Her nipples will get more obvious if she is pregnant.

I find most dwarf hamsters barely look pregnant and then there are babies, which is never much help! If its a very tame hamster you can feel gently using the rib cage as a guide... then feel down to the hips. Check this each day, it can sometimes give an indication better than just by sight, if they are pregnant But of course, this doesn't work with more jumpy hamsters!

The best thing is usually to assume that they are, as it's better to give them extra protien and room in case, than to not.

Well, I'm not sure, but if she is, take the male away! I had a 3 dwarf hamsters once, and she gave birth to over 20 babies in 3 litters! We had to give ALL of them away and take some to the pet store! (try not to keep two males and one female in the same cage together. one of my males was killed because my other male wanted to love my female!)

Feel the lower stomach of your hampster at about 2 weeks after breeding of whenever you think that she got pregnant. If it feels like there are marbles or grapes in her stomach then she is most likely pregnant. Not 100% sure though. I just know that it what you do with rabbits and hampsters are pretty close to rabbits.Try it and see if it works.Hope I helped.
