Where has the common courtesy gone on the road? Where has the "thank-you" wave, or letting somone in front of you, moving over when someone is trying to get on the highway?

Common courtsey went out the window along with cheeseburger wrapper and the beer bottles. Some drivers feel like they are in the Indy 500, and 3 seconds can make a big difference.

I always try to acknowledge when someone lets me out. A little wave and I say "thank you" they might not can hear the words, but certainly can see the wave. People, who let others out into the other lane, or get into traffic realize that 1 more car in front of you isn't the end of the world as we know it!

Thank you for letting people into the lane or ahead of you, please keep it up. I will wave and I am sure there are more of us "wavers" then the ones you think they are in the race of the lifetime. I certainly hope so!

Great questions!

God bless us all...............................

Well, I think its down to poor effort teaching people. I think its more the fact that people just don't care about others, because they never had to...

If you grow up getting your own way, then you'll think "this person is letting me through - as he should be", and probably wont consider a wave. Its these sort of people that I hate on the road.

Fair enough if you are stressed or something and waving occasionally slips from your mind, but thats hardly likely to be going on with 90% of people is it?

If people don't wave straight away, wave to them, then if they still don't wave back at any point, they should probably be hunted down and kicked...

One of the first things they should teach you in driving is that a simple wave or flash of the headlights goes a long way...

these days people are on the phone and driving which means they don't have an extra hand to wave or they are not paying enough attention to the road to move over or let anybody in

In most cases professional truck drivers will still extend highway courtesy to motorists. Even there, however, there are exceptions
