Describe the appearance of the exhaust gases once you finally manage to start a "flooded" engine. (A flooded engine results when too much gasoline is pumped into it) What type of combustion does this represent incomplete or complete?

It may have some dark grey/black smoke.. This is incomplete combustion. The fuel isn't atomized at the correct air/fuel ratio so it kind of smoulders making soot giving a black tinge to the smoke.. There could also be some blue if your engine is older and the rings/cylinders are getting worn. Blue would be oil burning.
Black=fuel
Blue = oil
White = normal if it's cold or antifreeze leak if it isn't

Black smoke and it is incomplete combustion.

It is incomplete while flooded.its complete after it starts, i would guess!
