There was a time when prisons were a self-sustaining institute. Prisoner had to work to pay for their keep. Then some bleeding hearts came along and said it was cruel and unusual treatment. I think not. The rest of us have to work for board and room. Why not put these people back to work so they don't have so much time to get into trouble?

I like your thinking! and I agree with you 100%. Their work should be useful to society as well, and if they don't work up to standard, they don't get out.

They do work.They work out in the fields just like migrants.They also eat the vegetables they grow.Even the women have to work,some of them work in the printing shop.That's where your license plates come from.Different jobs for different inmates.
