I'm not sure why she got rejected but I assume it was because of her undesirable looks. When you think about it's totally screwed up. But then again I look at myself and the people around me in this society & realize that we are to blame. People like to blame the shallowness of the media and Hollywood for the lack of 'normal', unattractive people on our televisions but the fact is its OUR fault.
We're the ones that choose not to go to movies if Fantasia was the star not Beyonce (bad actress) or Hudson. We don't like to see fat women modeling in the Victoria commercials we don't like to see ugly women on our sit-coms we don't enjoy watching a good horror flick with a black women unless she gets eaten by the movie creature within the first ten minutes.
Our society has basic standards and codes of beauty that we verify with OUR consumption of the products. Hollywood cares about money & ratings not looks. WE rejected Fantasia and gave Lindsey Lohan & Brittany Spears eating disorders. We hold the power to change things.

I think she was rejected for the role because she can't act. And I don't think she's ugly; apparently she wasn't too ugly to win American Idol.

Who knows but it was not because Fantasia was ugly. She is a beautiful woman with a broad nose and big lips and people think that she is ugly for that. I think she is BEAUTIFUL!
