I really, REALLY hate most of the music today. I can not stand panic at the disco, falloutboy, and all the bands thats fall into that category. I also Hate rap.

In my opinion a (good) band consists of a good guitarist, bassist, drummer and a singer. A good song should consist of a few verses, a chorus, a guitar solo, and meaningful lyrics.

panic at the disco has none of the above. a guitarist that plays 3 chords, an almost non existent bassist, and a lead singer who sounds like he is crying. And why do they dress like that, who are the trying to impress there a joke. That is not real music.

First of all, I do agree with your assertion that popular music has been degrading in recent years. I don't think that ALL music today is bad, though.

The people with the most pending power, music-wise, seem to be early teens. Therefore, all of the most popular music will be directed towards the teenybopper crowd. If you think there isn't good music out there, you just need to look a little harder, because there's some phenomenal bands that don't enjoy much more than an underground following.

Also, I think your being too formulaic in your parameters of what makes a "good" band. To me, a good band is a band that makes good music. Nothing more.

Heres some good CURRENT artists (Theyre mostly rock, cause that's what I gather you like)

-Little Barrie (Blues-rock, straight out of 65')
-Kaiser Chiefs (Kind of harder, more punk rock)
-The Blue Van (PHENOMENAL. Sound like they stepped right out of a gig in the middle of swingin 60's Europe. Best live show you'll ever see!)
-The Kooks (Very fun. A little poppy, but very good)
-The Stills (good)
-Spoon (Wonderful music, hypnotic)
-Midnight Oil (Killer tunes, and one of the best drummers I've heard since Moon and Bonham died)
-Supergrass (Mid nineties, you might not like them, But I think they're super.)
-Ween (Great music, and they're hilarious)
-Weezer (I know I'm kinda contradicting myself here, but I only really like the older Weezer, like the Blue Album)
-Beck (Beck is superb)
-Cake (Really sweet band, check em' out)

Well a lot of people think they have a cool guitarist, bassist, drummer and singer.different stokes for different folks but i agree theyre terrible and most of everything coming out these days is terrible.i love music.i play it myself but some of this stuff coming out these days is terrible.and i totally agree with your point that its not real music.my reason in saying so is that its all about the image.music these days is about the image and not the music.its marketed using image.its ridiculous.its a whole business in where people make music to become famous.the music is comprimised cause of this cause they have to have appeal.i love loads of different styles.i have over 800 cds of all genres but i dont have many cds from the past 10 years.music has gone downhill.enough of the posers
