Is it because of welfare reform, the high cost of living, drugs, what do you think?

because the population is going up. Where population goes up crimes go up. The rates don't necessarily go up. The media always fails to tell you the real numbers.

Say in 1997, 5 people died this month in the city with a population of 500,000. in 2007 10 people died in the same city that now has a population of 1,000,000. The media would say crime has doubled when in fact it has stayed the same. If you take time and run the numbers for the most part numbers stay constant.
