I am leaving my current job to temp, so I can help my mom go to dr. visits. I will be looking for work that will give me the schedule I need, but I would like to save money of course, also.

Besides collecting bottles & cans etc, what tips do you have for saving money, cutting costs and/or making some quick cash?

Please; no answers like being a hooker or the like. :-p

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am married. My husband is changing jobs, due to downsizing, and will be making less money. My mom is OK in her mobile home for right now. We don't have room for her, and couldn't commute from her place to our jobs. But down the road, if we move out of state and buy a place cash with our equity, we would absolutely take her with us.

I'm just trying to keep our household budge in check!!!

don't eat out, even at mcdonald's. bring a sandwich to work. sort through your belongings and what ever you can give up or don't need, sell it on e-bay or at a garage sale. if you have a lot of books, sort through them and you can sell some at a used book store. same for cds. if you're thinking of moving, it's a good idea to whittle down the amt. of stuff you have. do you have any special talents like doing taxes or cutting hair or baking or arts and crafts--maybe that could bring in some xtra cash. do you have a special skill you could teach others, like giving arts and crafts classes to local kids? what about cleaning houses--there's always going to be people who could use help with household stuff and it would be a simple business to set up. One of my co-workers was just telling me today how she needs someone to clean her house since her last cleaning person quit. You are a good daughter to help out your mom when she needs you, so I am rooting for you.

Move in with your mom? SInce you are making a sacrifice for her maybe she can help you out. Try bartending or some other tipped job you can do a few nights a week.

Give up some things, like eating out or buying certain foods, like snacks. Scale down! Cut down your electric bill by keeping things off and plugged out.
Start a list of expenses and see what you can do.
Good luck!
