The cheapest way, if possible, is to get your old carb rebuilt. The rebuild kit usually runs between $20-30 and labor is around $60. Carbs are a thing of the past and are getting hard to come by. Depending on the vehicle, a new carb can run up to $400. It's a pretty standard procedure, consisting of unbolting the old one and removing the vacuum and fuel lines and the linkages. Just be sure to remember where the lines go.

The question is a bit vague but changing a carb is not a huge problem. Take your time because there are several very small parts that you must account for. Unhook all your linkages and just unbolt it. Don't forget the gasket when you put the new one on.
