Sorry, I don't know who Brenda Baluyot is.
What do you mean, "the Philippines are homosexual"? Are you referring to the country or the people? The Philippines is the name of the country. People who come from the Philippines are called Filipinos.
If you mean to ask if there are homosexual Filipinos, the answer is yes, just as other countries have homosexuals. We're not ALL homosexuals, though, just like in other countries.
And I second the motion--this question is NOT supposed to be here, but in another category.

The country, although it is only one country, is spelled with an "S" at the end, thus: Philippines.

Being a single country, the question then (if I understood it correctly) is: Is the Philippines homo?

Is the country homogenized? No, only applies to milk.
Are the inhabitants Homo sapiens? Absolutely.
Is the country homologous? Nope.
Do the people speak in homonyms? No, once again.
Are there homosexuals? Yes, as in any country.

Do I "no" Brenda B.? To quote you: "no".

Pedroh I like your answer. The only thing I will disagree on is I think that the Phils has MORE than its share of gays either that or they are more open about it. The gays here seem to be somewhat different than back home. Here I have no problem with talking or being with them but back at home I wouldn't be caught in the same room with one.
My in-laws have a bakla (I think I spelt it right) helper I enjoy her company.
It is amazing the number of times people post provocative questions with the intention of irritating the locals.

You mean Homo Sapiens? But of course, we belong to the human race! But if you mean something else, we believe you are in the wrong corner.

i learned in Instructor Training school in the Navy to believe there are no stupid questions. but guess what? my instructors were wrong. i assume youre trying to get a reaction from a filipino or a filipina, but, in light the bent of your question and the lack of understanding it implies, id be very surprised if any of either bother to answer. its as if youd asked if Americans are ignoramuses. clearly some are, but actually you didnt ask about people you ask about a country, and i dont believe its possible for a country to have a sexual orientation seperate from individual people who live there. so i'd say the answer to your question is No! the Republic of the Philippines is not homosexual. nor is it heterosexual, for that matter. being a country it is by definition asexual, id say, is your best answer, as the question was asked. but on the outside chance that youre serious and just not very knowledgable about the philippines, ill take a stab at answering what you may have meant. when someone unfamiliar with the culture in the philippines first visits the country, they usually notice same sex pairs of friends in the philippines generally bechave differently toward eachother than same sex pairs of friends in the USA might. That is to say they may hold hands or walk arm in arm, and generally arent afraid of closeness. when i first saw this sort of activity i wondered if homosexuality or atleast bisexuality might be the reason. but after returning to the philippines numerous times over the years, ive come to discover filipinos and filipinas (not philippines) don't have a problem with this issue. fact is it's quite the opposite. people from many other countries do. If you really thinbk about it, in the USA were taught from infancy, that boys, and later, men, have certain jobs and certain toys and certain ways of behaving, that are fixed and cannot be deviated from and must be completely seperate and distinct from those of girls and women, and that one man must never touch another in any way excect to strike out in anger. and while some of the same stigmas are expected for women they get a little more leaway, kasi (because) guys sometimes kinda like the idea of women bring intimate, for perverse reasons.
But in the philippines this is all topsy turvy, kasi, they dont seem to be burdened with all this negativity. its as if no one has ever taught them to behave differently toward men than they do toward women, or to be mean to thier same sex to be safe from the dread, scary "HOMOSEXUALITY". in fact id say they have somehow managed to exist with a far more natural view on such things than thier American counterparts.
the answer to your basic question is still no, however. NOt all filipinas or all filipinos are gay by any means. id say its a very low percentage of both who are, just like anywhere. the difference is, in the philippines no one persecutes people for simply behaving in a friendly way toward another of the same sex, and since it isnt viewed as horrible inexcusable activity for people of the same sex to be friendly, they're free to be so, and for the few whos feelings cause them to lean toward homosexuality or bisexuality, they are free to be open about it also so you see more of it in the open. i think thats the culture shock many americans see in the philippines, with this issue, is that homosexuals dont hide in the philippines. nor do people of different ethnic backgrounds kasi theres no reason to. as for Brenda i again have no idea if youre serious, but if you are i have no idea who she is or why you tie her to this other wierd question.
