Well make sure your house or living area is always picked up and organized. That is key to happy life! Organization makes everything so much easier it's crazy.

Then you should do all the heavy cleaning like moping, dusting, bathrooms etc once a week.

Vacuum and Sweep the floors as often as needed. Dirt covered floors are very unattractive.

Duh! You clean when it gets dirty.
I have found that you can clean one room in less than a half hour. Do one a day. Unless you have a 40 room mansion, that should be sufficient.
Play games with yourself. Set a timer and challenge yourself to see how much you can get done in 15 minutes. You'd be amazed. With the exception of the bathroom and kitchen, you should be able to sweep or vacuum and dust most rooms in that amount of time.
NEVER take off a piece of clothing and throw it down. It either goes in the laundry hamper or on a hanger.
ALWAYS fold clothes from the dryer while they are still hot. Not only will they not need pressing as much, but you won't find yourself digging through a pile looking for clean socks.
You can make the bed 90% of the way while you are still in it. While lying there smooth out all the covers just so. Then carefully slide out. You can finish the job in a minute, and you have the luxury of a couple minutes more time in the sack.
People say a sloppy person looks like an unmade bed for a reason. If the bed is made and there are no clothes thrown about, most bedrooms look o.k.
The secret to a clean house is to keep it up as you go. Never let it get out of hand in the first place.

Well I try to keep on it as much as possible. Everyday I vacumn if I can (I have a cat) as soon as I come in from work. I also clean the kitchen every night after I make a meal, aka wipe down counters, tables, and wash and put away all dishes. As for moping, sweeping, dusting, and cleaning the bathroom, I do that every week when I have a day off. My apartment is well maintained and always looks neat when I have guests over. I say better to be proactive in the case of your home. Good Luck!

You didn't give any details of your house, but it is a universal unspoken rule in the maid industry that bi-weekly is the best.

*First de-clutter so that everything will be easy to clean with nothing to pick up while you're vacuuming, etc

*Don't sweep, get a canister vacuum, it will be easier, I recommend investing in a good one if your floors are all hardwood and you have a dust issue.

*Mop every two weeks, or every week if it gets dirty. Immediately wipe huge spills up in between cleanings so it doesn't get too daunting

*Dust every 1-2 weeks, but make sure there is adequate light

*Use non-toxic products like Seventh Generation www.seventhgeneration.com so that you won't inhale toxins and will enjoy cleaning

Good luck and happy spring!

make a list of things that will make your place appear clean, and decide how often you want to do them.
- Somethings like putting stuff in right pace can be done during tv ads.
- some things like wiping counters, dusting can be done in 10-15 minute increments. Do them while you are talking on phone.
-Bathroom cleaning etc should be done every week to keep in under 20 mins. you can do sink , one day, shower one day and so forth.
- A quick kitchen sweep can be done while you popped something in the microwave
-Avoid massive cleaning. It will take hours and put you off cleaning for months

Here is what I think is a good idea:
1. Monday -wash day
2.Tuesday -Ironing (i no no one but me does that anymore ?)
3.Wednesday -clean upstairs
4.Thursday -Clean downstairs
5 .Friday- grocery shopping and what ever else has to be done before the weekend . Alot of times families have to take kids to sports on the weekends too.
6. Saturday- Lawn and what ever else you have to get done in the yard .(treat yourself out to dinner Saturday night )
&.Sunday - church (plus relax the rest of the day if you can )
always worked for me .
And in betweeen if your schedule haas to change some , work around it .

as often as it needs it. . .when you feel crumbs as you walk or see dirt, sweep. if you spill something (like koolaid) on the floor, mop. just try to keep the place presentable. there are more important things than cleaning.

I keep mine neat and tidy on a daily basis......things picked up,dishes done, bed made bathroom clean etc.
Once a week I vacumn, dust and give evrything a good going over and this doesn't take me too long as I've kept everything tidy all week.
Also set aside one day each week for doing laundry.

as much as possible or whenever your place looks dirty. pick out tow to three times a month to really scrub everything. in between scrubbings you should just straighten up a bit.

If you clean as you go it's easier. Than waiting for one day.
