I just tell them they have a piece of fuzz or something on their nose. Or if it happens when they're eating something I tell them that a piece of their food is on their nose. Saves everyone a bit of embarrassment.

...if that subtle hint doesn't make it thru their heads..
then it's open season booger noses.

Tell them they have a "bat in the cave' they will look at you and go HUH? then you smile and tell them to think about it.
