Those are the words of Francesco Totti.
I think this guy is a joke...Representing one's country is the biggest HONOUR in football, and he is turning that down becuz he wants to concentrate on his club?
R people actually proud to call Totti an Italian? becuz it seems like he is not proud to be one!

I've never been a great fan of Totti despite his ability as I feel his self importance has always been a tad narky for me. It's great to be loyal to your team and want the best results for them that can be achieved but for me representing your Nation is the ultimate honor and to be chosen repeatedly a higher honor that carries some responsibility. If he doesn't want it, well forget him, there are others who would be proud to have the opportunity. And let's not forget, it's representing your Nation that brings the INTERNATIONAL recognition that they crave for and ultimately gives them the power to be obnoxious. They would not be worth half of what they are if known only within their own country and league.

I didn't even know Totti has ever said such statement.
But if it's true, then OK, let's forget him and find another good player. Why Italy should beg him to join Gli Azzurri? There are so many other younger talents in Italy. Moreover, he would be old enough to play in next World Cup. I admit Totti is a good player with talents and experience and achievements. But he is NOT a god of football, although his fans see him as Prince of Rome.

Totti said that he will retire after the WC to spend more time with his family, this is all Donadoni's fault, if he doesn't want to play they should live him alone, the problem is that he is ONLY Italian attacking players that is very good and in form(Del Piero WAS good)!!!! He plays in Roma all his life, he is one of the best because of Roma not because of Italy National team!!!

He is not a joke he is one of the best Italian players ever.
He doesn't want to play in the national team anymore just like many players did before. Now he wants to concentrate in the Italian league whats wrong with that?

I have a feeling he doesn't like Donadoni...he can do amazing things and maybe he feels like in the national team he can't make as much of a difference as in Roma...in Roma he's the top scorer in the national team he's about as good as everyone else with his bad leg...i think he'll be back tho

Too bad for him... if I was Italian, I would so totally curse him! But it doesn't bug me cuz i'm not a big fan of his. I guess he spoiled his chance of becoming a greater Italian icon.
