We have been told that it is really hard to grow grass under Oak trees. We have literally 10 in a very small area in our front yard. Is this true? It looks like a dirt mound outside, but I just figured it was because there was noone taking care of the yard before we moved in.... any suggestions? What kind of grass to get? Anything?

I've had personal good results with Bermuda here in Texas on my land which is moderately wooded.

Worth a shot:)

Best thing to do is to go to a local Nursery (not home depot or Lowe's) and ask them what kind of grass grows in shade for your area of the country. Get sod if you can. I have grown some grass with seed, but it takes a long time to start and sod is so much easier to work with.
Good luck.
