I'm now on my 3rd cycle of TTC since being on contraceptives. My 1st 2 cycles were 29 & 28 days.

I think I'm just ovulating now but it's Day 20 of my cycle & I think i usually OV at about Day 16.

If I've managed to conceive, does this mean that my luteal phase will automatically adjust and lengthen (I've read you need at least 10 days to sustain a pregnancy & at this rate I've only got 8/9 days left if my other cycles are anything to go by)???

I'm really confused!! Any useful info would be sincerely appreciated - thanks in advance to any TTC techos out there!x

I'm not a TTC techno, but I will tell you about my personal experience.
I came off birth control, and like you, had 2 normal cycles of 28 days and 29 days. On those months I'm pretty sure I ovulated at around day 14.
The 3rd month I had unprotected sex just once on day 21 and I got pregnant!
What I'm saying is, these things are hard to judge exactly. I was amazed that I got pregnant when I did, but I did! If you have been having sex regularly then there is a good chance that you are pregnant. Don't worry too much about the technicalities of your cycle, which are hard to fully monitor.
Good luck!

your follicular phase can vary, its the luteal phase that typically stays the same. if your normal LP is 12 days then it normally should be 11-13 days. if you ovulated late, there could be many factors involved. If you did in fact conceive than your luteal phase will just continue basically because you will not menstruate. and you are pregnant. as far as 10 days, that is usually when implantation happens. it normally takes the blastocyte 6 days to travel down the falopian tubes and another 2-3 days to implant into the uterus. after that time is when your body starts to produce the pregnancy hormone hcg, and not til after that will you get a + hpt. but, there still might not be enough hcg in your system yet to give you a + hpt. so it is best to wait til the day you are due or the day after. you dont want any false positives. I just ot 5 - hpts an dfinaaly on the day I was due for AF, I got a + hpt. My EDD is turkey day. good luck, hope this helped.

Hey sweetie how are you? Thank you for answering my questions! Fingers crossed arh! (cant think about it).

Now its my turn to try and give you some advice (I didn't get your note by the way, was it through using your husbands aviator?).

I did a little research also into this for you, and it says that the luteal phase stays the same should be 14 days or 10 to 14. Your period maybe a little later than normal. Count 14 days from when you have ovulated and then you should have your period on that date, however fingers crossed and your period doesn't arrive!!!

(Sorry if it doesn't make sense) x

I suggest to get your hubby's pants right off for the next few days, and thank god it 's the weekend lol!!!!!

Let me know how you get on xx oh and good luck (to us both)x

If you ovulate late, your luteal phase will be the same length as always. Your period will be late, but there should still be at least a 10 day luteal phase. By keeping track of your Basal Body Temperature, you can see when ovulation has occured by the sustained temperature rise following the release of the egg. This way, even if you ovulate late, you can accurately predict the arrival of your period.
