i believe they have been asking to be a part of canada for years but it has never gone through?

do your homework before you answer que, i wouldnt ask a question that doesn't make sense. It has been in serious discussion for many years and keeps being put on the back burner and i wanted to know why

The Province of Nova Scotia has offered the Turks & Caicos to join their province if they want to seek a political union with Canada. The Turks & Caicos are British, however Canadians would like to have a province in the tropics as many are snowbirds who spend their winters in U.S. or the Caribbean and their summers in Canada.

I do believe the people of Turks and Caicos want to stay independent and not part of Canada. JMHO

Quite a few Americans have purchased second homes there or moved there. The dollar is the currency, right now.

Such a merger inevitably would soon be fraught with problems: massive economic aid to these luckless islands, issues around security and passports and organized crime, economic development, you name it.

Whatever Canada did, no matter how well-intentioned, it would be accused of racism.

This Canadian is darned glad that nothing came of this looney project
