Run your arm under really cold water that will stop the burning then apply Aloe Vera, either straight from the garden or you can buy it in gel form at the chemist, works every time. Not heard of vinegar on burns before. Good luck.

run under slow cold tap or place arm in a bowl of cold water for at least 10mins but no longer than 30mins. Wrap in cling film or a non-fluffy material covered in vaseline to stop it drying out. If you are not sure whether it is a first or second degree burn then go to A&E!
Do not PUT anything on it especially NOT VINEGAR!

Run it under cold water (not freezing) immediatly for about 10-15mins.
Do not put any creams etc... onto it as this will trap heat in and make the pain worse.
It will be red and angrey and sore and will probably blister. But you need to allow the air to get to it so it heals quicker.
It may also be a good idea after running under water to wrap a cold damp cloth around it. This will take the heat out and give you some relief. Take some pain killers for the pain.
If it gets worse in any way, pain or soreness go to you local casulty department straight away.
Bet you will be more carefull i furture lol.
Hope it gets better soon xxx

Probably way too late by now but the whole running under cold water for 5-10 minutes thing is how it should be treated.

Vinegar is an acid.. Your mum wants to put acid on a burn?
Is her maiden name de Sade by any chance? :o)
Cold (preferably running) water was the correct answer - but you should've done it right away - The idea is to cool the area and prevent the burn going deeper into the flesh.

NO! run it under cold water until it stops stinging usually about 5 mins. If the skin is broken cover it with a clean dry dressing. Keep it clean and dry until it heals.
