Well you need a couple of things to know for sure. A directional antenna and a wifi card that will connect to it.

Once you have those, you just point the antenna until you find the strongest signal and that is the direction the Access Point is located.

So many cards these days do not have antenna connections it makes "finding" the access point a little difficult. However, if you dont mind walking around a little you can probably find the direction by just watching the signal headed in one direction, if it drops you are getting further away, go the other direction if it raises you are getting closer. (you will have to make North South East West turns to really get a location) Not scientific but works. Generally wifi doesn't travel more than about 100-300 feet so your area is limited so you probably wont have to walk very far.
