As a fellow individual i find it fascinating as to how people percieve the nautre of frindship. Is it a simple matter of trust between people, the ability to make people laugh or is there something more to it than this?

As A born cynic I would say that most peoples view on friendship was to use the other person up as much as possible , without giving too much at the same time knowing when to move on toa new friendship if it is more expedient . i don't believe in Unconditional love Either , just Lust and Cupidity.
Oh what Mores , What times !!

My view on it is a bit different. I look at my friends not like at friends "in need". I found that in need can be someone who won't be with you afterwards. Generally, friends for me not people who do something for me, but more people I agree with, people I admire and respect and not for what they do, but more for what they are in their hearts. It is probably more about the soul mate, then "a friend in need". Ones I've heard a very good expression about friends and friendship: Friendship is a relation when you can never ask and you can never refuse. It sounds strange, but there is a deep truth in it. You never ask a friend too much out of respect and love towards him/her and you will never refuse to a friend if you've been asked. True friend is never your driver (to give you a lift at 2 am), your fun maker (to make you laugh), your client (to make you money), your psychiatrist (to give you a shoulder to cry on), your parents (to be always there for you) - friend can remind you all of them, but if you make him one of them - then you've been a bad friend for him. That is my opinion.

I think the most important thing in any relationship is trust. Because being able to trust anyone with who you are is a hard thing to do. For someone to accept & like you the real person that you are & to be able to do that back is hard to find & hard to do.

Most people can count true friends on the fingers of one hand. It is purely about give and take. If you are too needy your friendship won't last for long.

My definition of friendship is condensed in a much quoted
proverb:
"A friend in need is a friend indeed."
Seemingly, it sound like yet another cliche, but the the meaning of this proverb is very profound, I think.

friendship to me is at least two people being there for each other, no matter what. even if there was a betrayal, they would still be friends. friends arent those people you talk to everyday, they are the ones who help you through every day

Seth: you can define friendship by actions that your "friends" take. a true friend will be right there with you in jail if you do something dumb and a good friend will be the one bailing you out.

The definition rests with your expectations and needs. Only you can decide whom you will call your friend and what kind of friend you will be to those you do.
