Has anyone ever read this short story? Its an ironic story where a poor girl borrows her rich friend's necklace and ends up losing it.she buys a really expensive one that looks like it and ends up spending 10 years of hell trying to pay it off and once she does.she givves the necklace back realizing the original one that was lost was only 500 francs where as the one she paid was 40000 francs.I'm trying to make a conclusion analyzing the irony in this story. Any ideas?

the conclusion of the story was the woman (sorry, I forget her name) could not tell the difference between reality and fantasy. She thinks the necklace she lost was real, when it in fact wasn't. She also blurred her vision of the night when she lost the necklace. She thought that the night was the best of her life, when in fact she traded her comfortable life for that singular day. the theme is that people who think they will find happiness in the material world cannot truly distinguish between fantasy elements and real life.

Fashion is always about making a statement and if your necklace doesn't even merit a single glance.

We do the same thing today when we idolize actors and singers and buy their memorabilia or the product lines they shill, assuming that their high-priced products are better than anything else we could buy, just because they endorse them. If we use the same thing they do, then we're more like them, we foolishly think.
