Gilgamesh was a Babylonian king in ancient Sumeria (Modern day Iraq) There are many stories about him that were preserved on tablets... Stories ranging from topics of immortality to one that closely resembles the story of Noah's Ark... Wikipedia would be a good source to start if you are interested in reading more about him...

Gilgamesh was a ruler of Sumeria and the fifth king of Uruk. I think that according to their culture he was supposed to have super powers or something. you can check here

Sumeria. I think it's the basic hero story, where he goes on a quest, fights enemies, and saves the day.

But I didn't actually read all of it, soooo...don't quote me on that. I was kind of a slacker in high school and I did as little as possible to get good grades.

It's from ancient Sumeria. As for the story, there's a condensed children's picture-book version that covers the basic plot-line. You ought to be able to borrow or special order that at your local library.

It is a similar story to the bible's world wide flood, but there are over 200 stories like that tell of such a flood. The bible story appears to be more accurate.
