That depends on engine make to engine make.
If Chev. to Chev. no problem as they mount the same.
If BOP (Buick,Olds,Pontiac) the bell-housings are different an adapter plate is available ($25-45.00) or change transmission. the mounts should mate up.
If Chevy to Ford ,would require mounts, bell-housing ,wiring radiator ...
If you are paying for the work to be done I would say $350.00 and up.labor only.
If doing the work yourself. yourself labor only
We realy need more info.

In What? If you are talking about putting in a boat and the 302 is a Ford , Then you could probably buy a brand new 350 with updates for a lot less then converting to a 302 Ford. If it is a rare 302 Chevy, I would store carefully in the back of my garage neatly preserved for some restorer to buy .

If the one you are removing is still good or rebuildable sell it. Then depending on who is going to put the 302 in that cost is variable. 350 is a very good motor. Not to sure about 302.

You mean a 302 instead of a 351, right? A good longblock from Summit will set you back $6900. A decent one from an old junkyard Mustang wil be at least $2500 (with all old parts, as-is, no warranty).

Q: Does it pay to change my 4 or 6 cylinder engine for an 8 cylinder? A: at the start, you could desire to choose in case you will save the laptop gadget. that's a much bigger hassle in case you do. Your ideal guess is to bypass to a junkyard or locate somebody who's parting out a V8 Camaro/Firebird, and pull as many areas as conceivable off a similar automobile. you will want brackets (i.e. alternator, AC, smog pump, and potential guidance pump - save the bolts too), AC hoses, and Pulleys. you will additionally want new rubber motor mounts (approximately $20 at close by areas shop) and the engine edge brackets that those mounts bolt to. be certain you get the engine edge motor mount brackets from a Camaro or Firebird as they're slightly shallower and are mandatory to get the engine to take a seat low adequate interior the bay. The holes for the motor mounts are already on your crossmember. you will additionally might desire to get the engine fan and fan shroud (junkyard or new - your determination). you will might desire to purchase a starter, water pump, and doubtless a potential guidance pump (get thses from a junkyard as they're merely approximately consistently nonetheless reliable). you could desire a V8 HEI distributor. An ACCEL rebuilt HEI works great and fees under $a hundred and fifty.00. and of path plugs and wires. Assuming an automated tranny, you will want a sparkling tranny because of fact the bellhousing bolt development is distinctive on the V8 automobile from the 4 and six cylinders. A rapid 350 will bolt precise in with B&M's $seventy 5.00 conversion equipment. It merely facilitates you to hook up the torque arm, yet you will lose overdrive. Take a polaroid digital camera to the junkyard, and you may desire to be waiting to determine all those issues out. finally, you will likely might desire to alter the front coil springs. i understand this looks like a ton of artwork (fairly because of fact it does not even incorporate what you could desire to purchase to deliver jointly the engine), yet this change is definitely extremely cake - each and every thing drops in like it became meant to be there. no less than, deliver jointly all the climate you could need (build the motor on an engine stand over some months with all upload-ons and brackets), and have somebody drop it in for you. a save might cost you an arm and a leg in the event that they had to scrounge all those issues up themselves.

My guess is you have a 350 Camaro and want to make it into a DZ302 Z28 clone?? Call the GM dealer and ask them what they would charge you for a crate engine. Then find out how much a local garage would charge you to swap out the engines. Good luck.

just change the crank and rods its the same pistons and block..
why do you want to..?
the 302 will rev higher if your valve train can handle it .
but you give up about 20 hp.
and lose low end torque..
i have had some 302 race cars but today i build 383 or bigger small blocks
