we all came from the same place to begin with

What a wonderful thought. But not likely to make the world a better place.
My very wise grandmother, who was not educated past the age of 13 and lived to age 96, once said of religion, "We were all Jewish once. Then Christ came and we got baptized." Had Isaac and Ishmael (sons of Abraham and of the same race) not gone their separate ways due to their mother's feuding, would we all still be of the same religion? Look at the wars fought and people killed in the name of someone's god and belief?
My grandmother also said "one day, we will all be a shade of beige."
We already have people of the same race who bicker over issues like differences in political views and trivial things like what music is best. No matter the race there will always be the human urge to be 'right' or 'better' than one's neighbor. What is right for one is not right for the next, no matter how hard we try to change each other.
And how boring would the world be if we all had the same skin tone, eye color, hair color and length, wore the same clothes, 'thunk' the same thoughts....?
That is not how the world was meant to be. It is meant to be as it IS.
Tolerance and acceptance of difference is a hard lesson for some to learn because humility and love are at its root.
As others have said, we ARE all of the same race...we are made in His image and should love one another as our brother regardless of our differences. Only then will the world be a better place.

While it is true that we all belong to the human race, I don't believe that's possible. That has been tried in places such as Louisiana and Brazil. Even with the resulting mixed races, prejudice has persisted. For some reason, many people feel the need to look down on others. If we were all one race, I think some people would still look for some discerning factor to judge others

No, I don't think it would be. Anyone who truly appreciates diversity would think it a shame to lose all the unique traits and cultures of each race. I think this kind of uniqueness makes the world a better place. And as many others have already said, there would be plenty else to fight over. Personally, I think religion is a bigger cause of problems in this world than racial conflict.

And to all the idiots out there saying "there's only one race- the human race": in case you missed all your high school science classes, humans are a species, not a race. Just like there's no such thing as the 'dog breed', there's no such thing as the 'human race'. Saying such a thing just makes you sound ignorant and foolish.

Yes, in a way. it would be a better place but it wouldnt change the whole world. because even if we were all one race...when something happened we would still look for someone to blame because that is just a characteristic of human beings. One race would help improve the jealousy, the hatred because of differences, and the prejudiceness. but we arent all one race because thats how God mean for it to be...cuz if we were all one race we would never get the chance to live with other people who are different.

There's this great story by Dr. Suess (Yes he writes children stories) about I think they're called sneeses or something *They looked like Yellow walking Ostriches*
Anyways, there were ones that had stars on their bellies & ones that didn't. The ones with the stars treated the others ones badly & made them feel inferior. Anyways, this guy comes out from nowhere & makes a machine (for a small fee of course) that gives the the ones with no stars the ability to have stars on their bellies. Which the ones with stars originally, hated b/c they couldn't tell the 'cool' ones from the 'bad' ones. So they go to the guy & take their stars off, so then the other ones follow & take the stars off, (This goes on for awhile) Then the guy leaves in the middle of the process (Rich of course) and they can't tell the difference b/t ones with stars & the ones without.

I feel we would lose so much beauty and diversity, and that it would not be a better place.

Rather we need to learn to appreciate our differences, be tolerant, while giving equal rights to all.

It seems that generally the human race seeks out the differences, and this causes all manner of "isms". As long as we are focusing on minor differences and making them major problems, we are distracted from the real issues. And I think some people in powerful positions prefer it that way.

I don't think it would matter. We would find other ways to categorize ourselves and thus discriminate just the same. We already do categorize ourselves by religion, by non-religion, by nationality, etc. Every different category we can think of causes wars and contentions. The wars between Britain and the U.S. were not caused by race, as we were the same race, but rather by political ideology. The conflicts in Ireland are caused mostly because of religion.

Sure, if there was only one race, that would reduce a lot of discrimination but we would just find other ways to discriminate against each other for other reasons.

No. It's better to have diversity which makes life interesting and exciting. I think some people will always want to mate and procreate with their own kind, so I think there will be both increased diversity and also there will continue to be pure race people. If everyone melded into one race, it would be a tremendous loss for human diversity and cultures. Also, love and romance would be less fun because if you had a preference for black girls or caucasian men or Asian girls or whatever, you would no longer be able to have them, you would only be able to have one basic mulatto type. It would be very boring and un-aesthetic. However, perhaps when we solve the genetic code, we will be able to impregnate mothers with their choice of race of babies. At that point it would be a free market with supply meeting demand.

No. Wars in Europe and Africa prove that 'one race' doesn't bring peace. Genetically, there is no difference between the Germans and the French but they went to war several times. The Rwandan massacre was also a race war. Same thing; genetically they are alike.

Man is tribal. Get over it.

It might solve racial issues, but there are more things in the world that people discriminate against besides race. People would easily find something else to hate people over; it's a cruel aspect of our society, but it's true.
