This is of course a normal habit it comes from that your Guinea wants attention or is trying to tell you somethinng or even HUNGRY AND scared!!!! Don't worry hes fine more attention less squeaking and he will be good.... Also at times hwen he or she does this try to give it a carrot to settle down or simply give it more &hearts'...You could place him or her on your lap and they will settle down but be careful they might not want to get out for a couple of days...so make it more roommy!!!!Guinea Pigs are the most gentle pet of all.....&hearts' &hearts'
Good Luck
AND DON'T WORRY~~~

Do you mean like a bird? I have read of people who have experienced this and would love to hear it myself ! What I've read is that the guinea pig goes into a trance like state and starts chirping, but noone is sure of what it means, if its happy or sad/ good or bad. Whenever I play sounds of guinea pigs squeeking my piggy squeeks along with it, but when I came across this sound and played it, at first my guinea pig froze completly and she stayed like that for a minute or so after it finished. I played a few diffrent clips of chirping and she made the "burr" sound they make when they are scared/ dont like the sound of something. So I can't tell you what it means, but I can tell you that it most probably was your piggy =) Go on youtube and search "guinea pig chirping", thats the sound I think you are talking about. Hope I helped !

Here is a great website of all the different noises a guinea pig makes, and what they mean. Includes sound clips.

Guinea pigs are very talkative. They have a high pitched squeak when they hear a paper bag,in anticipation of some greens. You will learn from them what each noise means.

trust me i have a guinea pig. the sound is natrual. my guinea pig comes fom the same place yours does. if he sqeels, that is perfectly ok because if he does that that means that hes hungry or that he wants your attention. if you give him more attention he will most likely sqeel less. so dont worry give him a lot attention and love. also if your guinea pig makes high pitch short noises that are really really high pithed, then it means hes scared of something. good luck!
