I wear contacts during the day and take them out when I get ready for bed. Then I often wear my glasses all night (I, too need them to see the TV). Who cares if you sleep in your glasses. It is not really going to hurt them any.

I got my contacts when I was about your age and I haven't had any problems. I shouldn't think you would either.

I'd strongly suggest getting contacts. The only thing is, they do require you to take them out every night - and if you're forgetting to take off your glasses, which are literally right in front of your nose, this may be a problem. If you have the funds, you could try getting certain brands that DO allow you to sleep in them. These are more expensive than normal contacts, but it may be a good solution.
Do a bit of research on the advantages and disadvantages of each, and then be able to show your parents/whomever is paying for the contacts, that you're ready to handle the responsibility of contacts.
Best of luck!

I wear glasses too. Glasses are not cheep and neither are contacts, you have to take good care of both of them. However, glasses might be cheeper than contacts.
Either glasses or contacts, your gonna have to take em off before you go to bed. If you have problem going to sleep with your glasses on because your watching tv, turn off the tube and put your glasses aside and get some sleep. If it's a show you have to watch, use the VCR. If you don't have a VCR or a blank tape, watch your program, then turn off the tv, put your glasses away and go to sleep.
Same thang goes for contacts. You have to take out your contacts before you go to sleep.
Even a smart docter will tell you that. Don't belive it when people or telavision say it's ok to sleep with contacts. Contacts could still hurt the eye in some way, no matter how safe it is.

What I'm really tring to say...Get used to your glasses and take care of them.

You can get the contacts but there are a few things to consider. Can you put them in and take the out without help? Will you take care of your contacts? Can you clean your contacts daily?
Contacts require more care than glasses. Also, you will have to take your contacts out before you go to bed. It is not safe to sleep with your contacts in so think about that.

It's ok for a 12 year old to get contacts, I know my friend, 12, and she's had contacts since last year!
I wear glasses and I'm about to get contacts next month, after my birthday(my eye doctor said I should be at least 13 to get my contacts...)
So in my opinion, go ahead and get them if you really need it!

I have both contacts and glasses .Yes it is possible for a 12 year old to get contacts but if your getting them beacuse you keep forgeting to take your glasses off at night this will be worse if you sleep wit your contacts your eyes get very red and they hurt really bad the next day and theres a possibilaty you might lose your eye site so if you want them to sleep with glasses are better i use contacts during the day and glasses at night becase falling asleep with them has a huge concequnce to it do just stick with glasses So yea Glasses

I was 11 years old when I got my first pair. You should get contacts. Use contacts during the day and glasses at night. That's what I do. Anyway its your decision, I'm just giving you my opinion.Just don't sleep with contacts on because the next day your eyes will become irritated. Anyway best of luck!!

You might also want the opinion of the eye doctor to see if he/she will even give you contacts. I was 14 when I got mine. Or just remember to take off your glasses.

You can get contacts at that age, but you have to be very dedicated to wearing them! You have to be ABSOLUTELY clean--never ever touching them unless you wash hands thoroughly, or you can get infections.

They are also uncomfortable until you get used to them--I know a 40 yr old man who got them last year, and wore them ONCE--they irritated him too much.

While there are lenses you can wear for as long as 30 days, no real doctor would advise it. Your eyeballs need oxygen, and contact lenses stop them from getting it. I use the 1 week disposables, and they are easy to take care of and wear.
