I would like to see someone with a similar winning record, according to the NCAA statistics Tubby is in the top 10 highest winning percentage active coaches in the NCAA.

I understand that Donnovan has not resigned his contract (but I doubt he will leave) I think he is waiting to see how the tournament works out for better bargaining position.

I like Mark Few (Gonzaga) he owns the current highest winning average for coaches and he is a good recruiter.
Other top names on that list are

Bruce Pearl
Bo Ryan
Thad Matta
Bruce Weber
John Calipari
Bill Self

The stats are nice but I look to UK to recruit from the best programs in the nation. They are not scared to pony up the necessary contract funds to entice a coach to come to Lexington and be a part of the tradition of the U of K Wildcats.

If I could pick anyone to come to U of K and coach I would take John Calipari, I like his offensive style and think he has done a great job in Memphis.

Obviously any Kentucky fan is going to want Billy Donovan. And the fact that he hasn't signed a new contract with Florida because he wants more money has Kentucky fans absolutely salavating (trust me, I'm one of them). Kentucky has the money and the prestige to get him. But deep down, I think we know he's probably headed for the NBA.

With that being said, here in the real world, the best bet is going to be Billy Gillespie (Texas A&M) or Tom Crean (Marquette). I'm not crazy about Crean but he made it known awhile back he wanted the job and his wife is from western kentucky. I like Gillespie and he just beat Louisville, so that makes me like him even more. And as much as A&M fans think he won't come here, we are talking about a pretty good pay raise and the chance to bring Kentucky back to the top (do that and fans here will think you're a God).

As far as names that have been dropped (and these are from reliable local Louisville, KY sources), John Calipari (Memphis), Tom Crean (Marquette), Billy Gillespie (Texas A&M), and Rick Barnes (Texas).

So in my little blue and white fantasy world, Billy Donovan. In reality Billy Gillespie.

P.S. Kentucky wouldn't have Pitino back if their lives depended on it. Trust me, he's tainted now.

I would definitly agree that Rick Pitino is a very viable option. Its also kinda nice to have tubby in the Big 10.

I would LOVE for coach K to go there, and get his rat face out of NC. HAHA. How about Tom Krene (sp.) from Marquete, or try to get Few from Gonzaga, Or last but not least Gillispie from A&M (he has turned that program around pretty quickly). Hows that? UNC Fan. Why would Donavan leave Fla. He has it made there and he is getting bettter players

with a school so wealthy in custom and a fan base as annoying as kentucky's it would take a coach who has large credentials and hard recommendations-set to teach there, so i think of it would maximum probable be a star coach like John Calipari of memphis. look what he has achieved with the limited materials and skill point at memphis, granted they are in CUSA, yet he has been waiting to recruit and advance quite a few gamers that are at the instant interior the nba suitable now...

I can tell you right now that Billy Donovan won't replace him. He is in a better situation at Florida without the ridiculous expectations that Kentucky has year after year. I think a realistic canidate would be Texas A&M's coach.

Tom Krene from Marquette. Look what he did with the program. Good thing Tubby is gone. He's ruining our rich basketball tradition!!!

Most Aggies are worried that Billy Gillispie will be interested. I don't think so because he is from Texas and the aggies will match any offer. I see Cats going for Mark Fox (Nevada).

I LOVE Coach K and DUKE! Go Duke! COACH K ALL THE WAY!!! BUT, I think it would be cool if Billy Donovan left Florida to coach UK or if Kentucky gets Coach Pat Riley.
