4GB officially translates to 4096 MB, although most companies these days already call 4000 MB equivalent to 4GB.
Either way, your 960 MB are way short.
Could it be that you are reading "unusued" memory, instead of total memory? In other words: maybe there are already 3GB worth of files on the player?

1 GB = 1024 MB.
So your player is about 1/4 full.
...or if you mean that's how much space your computer says it has left, it's a little over 3/4 full.

960.9 MB tranlates to a litlle less than 1 gb are there any sample songs? If not you still have to account for the program taking up some room ...but not that much

That 960.9 might be referring to the amount of disk space free or used, not necessarily the entire size of the player.
