tonight is date night at home for me and my long time hubby. here's the plan of attack:....i got three orders of ( real ) mashed potatoes from my workplace cafeteria. i have some frozen broccoli and cheese stashed in the freezer. i have a couple of porterhouse steaks, a bagged salad and a package of Bearnaise sauce....... i will put garlic and parsley in the potatoes, steam the broccoli for two min. (already cooked), put the steaks on the forman grill. i'll serve all in dishes, set the table, serve with side salad and sauce, pop a bottle of wine and maybe watch a netflex movie. he will never know where or how i put the diner together and will be impressed. hey, give me a break. i work full time. he thinks i'm amazing, so do i.......any one else want to share...how they do it "all" and make it look easy, lololololol.

Well I have to go to all that effort every night just for myself, except 3 nights a week when I don't eat dinner cause I'm playing sport. I like cooking and I think its important to take the effort to do it properly when I live on my own. I do keep home-cooked meals in the freezer for when I get home late from work or I'm really really tired though, so I guess I cheat a little....but I think every organised person can relate to this little secret:-)

I was blessed to have a single mom so she taught me how to make a gormet meal in a matter of minutes! =)
this weekend im surprising my boyfriend (who's been on vacation for a while) with his favorite italian salad (cold salad that you throw into a bowl -5 min. tops-) some lemon chicken picked up from the deli, pita bread, and drinks... it's all so easy, and he thinks i spent a trillion hours throwing his fav. dish together =) then we're taking it to a park, since it's going to be a wonderful weekend =)
the cheating secret- it's all cold, and easy to throw together.. literally throw.. =) eating cold foods for a picnic saves over an hour of time...
i know what you mean about working full time.. i'm in the exact same situation! =) have fun tonight!

You sound like me. Except I don't often get to buy anything pre-made. I will usually try to plan ahead though. If I know something will take a little long to prepare...I'll do anything I can to help the process along the night before or that morning. Its good that your hubby appreciates your hard work and the fact that you also do a lot around the house for him. Mine is the same way. Its fun to do stuff for them when they appreciate it, isn't it?!
Hope your dinner turns out good. It sounds delicious!!
