2nd question: A question about impulse. Can it be said that the more elastic two projectiles are, the longer they will remain in contact with one another when they collide?

1. An example that's between the 2 extremes:
The collision of 2 cars in which they do not stay stuck together.

2. In elatic collisions, the objects separate quickly. In somewhat inelastic collisions, they remain in contact longer while they do damage to each other.

absolutely not - if a collision is not 100% elastic, it is not elastic at all. but you can have different magnitudes of inelastic collisions.

#2:
i don't think so. if im thinking of what you are saying, the faster the projectiles are fired, the longer they will stay together.
saying that, in an elastic collision the amount of time the objects are in contact is minuscule - about .001 secoonds.
