There are many old wives tales, but it's best to let nature take it's own course. Sex & walking are supposed to help, but that doesn't always work.

Haha! Nothing is concrete!! I was 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant before I had my baby... and I tried sooo much to induce labour! I tried walking, sex, nipple stimulation, spicy food, bumpy rides, raspberry leaf tea... I tried a lot of things, just not castor oil (eww). But, in the end it's all about when your baby wants to come out.
Just remember, they can't stay in there forever and cherish the last few days/weeks of peace and quiet! And SLEEP! My baby is a week and a half old and the one thing I miss the most is sleeping! It's all worth it, but catch up on it while you can!
Congratulations and Good Luck :)

I have heard sex can start labor because the same chemical is released during an orgasm as when your body starts labor. So sex can trick your body into starting labor. Good luck and congrats!

My wife had the same question, grandma said rasberry tea. It worked. No labour pains or anything that day. had two cups early afternoon, about 1/2 hour later i'm driving like a madman for the hospital. That's a serios topic though so research it more first, but it worked for her

i am afraid nothing really works sorry......sex only works if your uterus is ready to go into labour, walking is just plain uncomfortable, raspberry leaf tea just tones your uters for labour, but does not bring on labour, and castor oil just gives you major stomach cramps. I ended up being induced 2 days late because i was in pre-labour for over a week, so we tried quite a few things in that time and nothing worked. Unfortunately it's just one of those things your baby will decide when it's time.....good luck!

i asked this question to my midwife this morning. she said that sex is the best thing. also nipple stimulation and tons of walking. hope that helps!
you can also ask your doc about sweeping your membranes if you are far enough along. if i dont go into labor before next wednesday, thats what they are going to do for me.
good luck!

Ok so everyone has said sex... and it is NOT because of orgasm... I dont know how many women out there can orgasm at 9 months preggo..lol.. its actually from the PROGESTERONE in HIS semen... if you have sex make sure he "deposits" in you.. and lay there for 20 or so min... then take a long walk... LONG walk... good luck with the baby...

There really isn't anything that is going to make you go into labor until your body is ready to go into labor. Sorry, but it is true.
