Sat. is my 42nd birthday. My boyfriend of 14 years ( we have 2 kids) left me 3 months ago. I don't know what to do for my birthday. The kids will be with their dad. All of my friends are married. I work all day Sat. I would like to go out after work. Is it pathetic to go have a drink by myself, and then maybe go to a movie. Who goes out by themselves on their birthday? I don't have my parents anymore they both died last year. And my brother is out of state, or I would visit them. I feel like a loser. Or should I just stay home? What do you think? I usually don't mind going out alone, I know I need to meet people. But on my birthday?

Start thinking about all the blessings in your life. You have 2 children, a job, a home, and can obviously afford to go out and treat yourself to dinner or a drink or a movie. There are many who don't have near the number of blessings in life that you do. Start thinking about the positives in your life instead of the negatives. Think of your birthday as the first day of the rest of your life and live each day in a positive manner.

I am sorry that your relationship did not work out, and you will be alone on your birthday. If I were you, I would get dressed up and go out to a dance or pub. You may meet people you are aquainted with when you are there and you won't be sitting there totally alone. What I would do is if you meet someone, don't mention it is your birthday. Just enjoy the evening, and say to yourself you were not alone, crying in your house by the TV, you were out with other people. Don't ever say you are a loser..you are not. It is just that so many unpleasant things happened to you lately, with the breakup and the death of your parents, that you feel depressed and down. As my late Mother used to say, "When you fall down, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go on" and that is what you should do. Saturday is a day that you will be 42 and maybe the rest of 07 will bring new exciting things into your life..There is always hope for a better tomorrow. So get dressed up Sat. and go out..Do not stay home. Good Luck

Go out and have a good time. Who knows you might meet some interesting people. Try not to think about the negative things in life and reflect on the good things in life. You only live once so go out and have some fun, maybe do something different. God bless

I have the perfect suggestion! Go to a spa & get a luxurious hot stone massage and an aromatherapy facial. You'll feel refreshed & look great. I did it (although not on my birthday) & loved it. Afterwards, you can go out for a drink if you like, or whatever!

P.S. - I'm 45
