My family and I went in the summer of 1995 and had a blast. Check out the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and definitely take the tour at the Tower of London...it's fantastic and you can see the Crown Jewels. Also take one of the open air tours on a double-decker bus. Lots of fun.
If you can get a day out of the city, go to Warwick Castle. It's beautiful and there is this amazingly gigantic doll house that belonged to Queen Victoria (I believe). The detail is amazing and your daughter would be very impressed.

I think she would enjoy the Tower of London and the London Eye. Both were great! I found the tubes were the best way to get around, and from my experience were totally safe. I also went to Paris on my trip, found it a little disappointing. But, that is just my opinion.

Dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum. You can also experience an earthquake there too. They also do shows and have an investigative classroom. Then go next door to the Science Museum. Again, there are lots of interactive areas that are fun for all ages. If you have time, cross the road and whizz through the Victoria and ALbert. Don't be put off by museums, they are great fun.

there are sooo many things to do in london that you will just have to pick a few of the must-see places, concentrate on those that seem interesting & enjoyable for u & your family...even a month is not sufficient time to really enjoy & absorb everything london has to offer...in my opinion, spring is an excellent time to go, it`s not so cold & the majority of the tourist crowds haven`t arrived there yet...london zoo is great, i`m sure your daughter would enjoy that, probably you as well...the london eye is just spectacular, giving you a breathtaking look out over london...so many museums, you must choose the ones that seem appealing to you, you can`t do them all, but it`s definitely worth it just to see a bit of the british history & culture...for shopping, there`s oxford street & if u like outdoor markets & antiques, there`s portobello road market...try some of the different foods (fish & chips, indian cuisine)... buckingham palace is nice, see the changing of the guards & such....so many beautiful parks & gardens, nice for an afternoon stroll...i highly recommend if anyone gets the chance to visit london, they do so...i have traveled there 3x, and the last time i went, i spent 6 months & didn`t want to leave...in my opinion, london is the perfect city!!! as with any large city, as far as crime & safety, just use common sense, as u would when u travel anywhere!!! don`t carry all your cash & credit cards in one place, stay alert when u are out & about...have photocopies of your passport & other important documents in a separate location from the originals, in case of theft or loss it makes it easier & quicker to file reports & get replacements...take care as cell phone/ipod/camera theft is high, keep watch on yours at all times (preferably in your bag/purse)...watch out, cab drivers tend to try to rip u off, going out of the way from a shorter route just to charge more!!! can`t think of anything else at the moment, but hope that helps!!!
