I am studying astral projection and have tried it a few times now. i just need some more information on what its like. Everytime i try it i get a feeling of my body getting smaller, My body gets numb, and just recently, a small part in my arm tingled but no vein or artery was blocked. Is this the "vibrations" im supposed to experiance? If so why only that part of my arm (located just above my wrist)? Please no flamming actual answers please.

In astral projection you remain attached to your physical body by a silver "umbilical type" cord. Some people see the cord and others do not. You are aware of things you encounter along the way while out of your body. To astral project, as with all out-of-body experiences - one must feel totally relaxed, clothing fitting comfortable, reclining is best. Often a comforter is best over the body as the physical body sometimes gets cold when you travel out.

If you get fearful, please stop as you are not ready for astral projection. Anything done in metaphysics should feel comfortable and easy. If it is stressful, let it go for now, as you are not ready.

"The vibrational sensory effect is a single consistent symptom throughout the Beginning Stage. The early vibrations seemed to be rough, sometimes accompanied by a visual image of a localized ring of electrical "sparks." It can effect all of your body or only part (even small areas of your body) as you have experienced.

I have Astral Projected many times and I felt a tingle in my left foot each time for a while. No other part of my body tingled at all. This however has increased with time. I havent tried this recently but I usually feel a tingle all over now or i hear a very faint buzzing sort of noise as my astral self leaves my physcial body.

Dont worry about it and continue to enjoy the experiences.

I've never tried astral projection, but I will say that I get a horrible feeling of "splitting away" from my body when I'm under great stress, something I've come to realize is a form of depersonalization.

I don't know if that's to save me by splitting away the part of me that wants to be assertive and strong so that I can survive in the face of abuse, or if it's just a really uncomfortable sensation that's "in my head" (that is, not outside my body.)

Be very careful with projection! I haven't tried it for fun because I associate it with a very unpleasant feeling and sense of detachment that I don't really want. Maybe it's a survival mechanism, I don't know.

But if you feel uncomfortable or unsure about the process, DON'T GO FURTHER! Meditate more, become more enlightened, think about what you are trying to accomplish. Under uncontrolled circumstances, it's a nasty feeling, nasty indeed.

As to how I feel, I feel like I float out behind my body and my physical body feels numb and dull, like it's not 100% alive.

I hate it.

But if you're sure you can handle it, I guess study it some more and try it again.

I remember being part of what seemed to be a classified remote viewing project back in the early 70's. They haven't mentioned it yet as far as I know .Now it has been said that the Chinese are very heavily into it especially with younger children.I wasn't very good at it though and was mostly messed up as a kid anyway. There was a young girl around my age that was really good at it though. Here is one explanation of it.

On the beginning please try astral projection in meditation under supervision of an experienced teacher only. Numbness may relate to shallow breathing, or to subconscious fears that should be addressed. Consult your teacher, or find a reputable school--for example--http://www.aiht.edu/doorways/aprojections_door.aspx?adclfr=GGastralprojection#
Good luck!

It is real and so easy to get jerked right back into our familiar earthly plain. I use a CD called the Delta Sleep System. It isn't a guided meditation and it isn't music...but I always project to another level prior to engaging in a restful slumber.

It's not really worth the work and intensity. I never have figured out the "Why" of it except for bragging rights with initiates.
