To some degrees, yes. Because society today is a lot looser than it was back then, a lot of kids are trying to "grow up" too fast - when I say that I mean they're getting involved in "adult" situations like smoking, drinking, doing drugs, etc. Parents are not always to blame ... it's the pressure of the entertainment media, I think. Look at Paris Hilton. Even though most people think she's a moron, YOUNG GIRLS look up to her and think what she's doing is "cool", even if they do unconciously. I've seen countless girls copying her clothing style, her way of speaking...which leads to them copying her actions. With such exposure, they just can't help but be influenced and thus go out of control. It's a sad way to waste their youth, yet they just can't wait to grow up and face serious consequences, can they?

i have worked with "at-risk" youth now for 13 years and the answer to your question is yes.. But I also think for the most part parents are out of control as well. When working with kids, you see all of the problems they have and address them. But when you look at the whole family, you see where the problems come from. But there are a segmant of our population where the kids are out of control. It is amazing what ive seen and dealt with. I mainly work with behaviors, but now its to the point where there are so many mental issues out there as well. I just don't know what the heck this country is going to look like in 20 years. I swear!! I just keep thinking that i only have contact with the troubled youth, and there has to be some good youth out there right now..

All youth have always been out of control at some point in their lives. How else can they find out they need to grow up.

No more out of control than yesterday's youths unfortunately. However, today's youths do have to deal with tougher social issues.

Its because of the parents that really don't care about their kids. That the parents are on drugs and they don't know what they are doing in the first place. So then they don't know what the kids are doing either. and of the world we live in. The things in the world. The movie stars and music stars that are just so "PREFECT" and they are not and the kids(youth) are trying to be like them.
