"Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.* "

ok i went to http://www.crucial.com and http://www.tigerdirect.com and this is the answer they gave me...at tigerdirect i see the DDR2 series, but the PC2- whatever is just PC5400 for example....instead of PC2-whatever...does this matter?

You can find out what kind of ram (memory) your computer needs at http://www.crucial.com and it will automatically test your system and tell you what you need and have in the computer (each slot).

You can get cheap memory at http://www.tigerdirect.com

Edit - It is the same, as long as you see DDR2 that is what you need.

You need to know a) make, model, and type of motherboard and b) the manufacturer of the motherboard. If this is a self-built PC, then open up the chasis, take a flashlight and look for identifying code (ASUS, etc.)

If a commercial brand, then go their website and search by that specific model (example Dell GX520) and it will tell you the specific type of DIMM and what the maximum amount of GB will be.

Good luck- contact me if you need further assistance.

Match DDR speed to motherboard speed. Refer to the motherboard's manual for the DDR speed and bitrate.
