I do not agree with the hunting of animals for trophy reasons. I think that big game hunting like lions and tigers and bears(oh my) is a sad thing. I do agree with hunting if you are going to eat the meat. Mt husband deer hunts every year and we eat the meat. We have it processed and we have ground meat, steaks, roasts, and even a wonderful summer sausage made from the meat. Is it somehow more honorable and holy to eat meat from a steer that has been bludgeoned to death or run into a holding pen and shot in the temple then processed. Perhaps the chickens that have their heads chopped off on a conveyor belt at a chicken processing plant are better off than a wild turkey that is hunted and sometimes gets away. Hunting for the sheer pleasure of killing is wrong but hunting for the meat to eat is fine.

I don't understand trophy hunting, but if you are eating the meat you kill, what is wrong with that? I don't buy into the "balance of nature" argument either, in general. If humans were not around everything would balance out. However, since we have driven many species out of their habitats, overpopulation can cause major disease, killing great numbers. In this case hunting does serve a purpose, if only because we have caused a problem in the first place. Humans are omnivores by nature. You couldn't have survived in most climates being a true vegetarian 10,000 years ago. Hunting is much more humane than raising and butchering animals. By the way, I am not a hunter. I've never killed anything larger than a housefly.

It's great to hear people's opinions. But, it's not great to hear people opinions on something they know little about. Just because some animals are off endangered lists doesn't mean that they are not protected in some fashion. Each state has a Department of Natural Resource. Try your states website for information on your states hunting laws. I feel that hunting, when done in a legal matter, is a good thing for everyone. Imagine if hunting was banned, you couldn't drive a few miles without hitting a deer in the latter part of the year, depending on where you live. Hunting is a good thing, when done in a safe and correct manner.

I assume you are referring to the so called sport of shooting animals not the hunting of Americans, (people). I think they all should use cameras and I agree with you that the balance of nature would go on just fine and probably better without all the innocent animal killings. It is ashame to permit it, but our lawmen are afraid to stop it because of fear of political losses.

I think there could be a valid point in what you say, but it is lost in the babbling diatribe of it. Try to say it more seriously and less antagonistically - if you know what those words mean.

I guess you'd rather have an animal population die of starvation. Perhaps you find a beef ranch more humane.
