My weight is 160. I love fitness and working out - in the summer, I ride my bike 15-20 miles a day, and always try to eat healthier. I do however, give in to temptation to the food we have available here - fast food such as Taco Bell (love it!), Wendy's, McDonald's...Chain restaurants like TGI Friday's, Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse...I can't resist going there, but I NEVER order cheeseburgers or fries from fast food (stick with chicken) and NEVER drink soda. So that helps.

I think it really is the temptation for quick, easy and tasty food that does it. I've been to Europe and wow, what a difference. The food is MUCH more expensive, the portions MUCH smaller, and there's hardly the variety and choices available - and the American franchises over there (KFC, McDonald's, Burger King) make up a good portion of that!

But here in America, it's easier to order something or buy something processed at the Supermarket for a quicker, easier meal. Too many people here either just don't have the knowledge or are just to lazy to eat right and exercise. It's sad, and gives our country a bad name (and something for foreigners to laugh at us about). But we're not all fat, I'd say only about 1/4 - 1/3.

Come on now old chap, aren't you stereotyping just a bit? Have you actually been to the U.S.? While indeed there is a rising epidemic of citizens with high weights, many people do a great job of staying in shape. Overweight people can be found in all cultures and socities, (yes, even yours). The fattier and more filling food here often costs less, and therefore people purchase it..especially those who can't afford more. Also, perhaps Americans are less shallow, and are able to look beyond things other countries can't. By the way, my weight is 107 lbs.

Not everyone in America is fat. Some Americans eat junk and fast food all the time, but just as many don't. There are fat people all over the world.
Don't stereotype cultures. I'm sure you don't like it when your culture is stereotyped.
I am a moderate weight, not fat, not a supermodel.

A lot of Americans are overweight - presumably because we have plenty of cars and transportation and fast foods and an indulgent lifestyle. When I'm in Europe, I'm always impressed with how far people walk on a daily basis, like it's nothing - I'd lose weight there too!

Because it is unfortunately true that we do have a large number of large people in the US.

Many of us who are over weight work strange hours and we often eat in our cars while commuting to and from work. Some have health conditions that keep them heavy. Others don't care what they look like and eat whatever they want.

I won't give you my weight, but suffice to day if I lost 25 pounds, there would still be plenty of me left over.

Too many choices! I can go down a grocer isle and have to choose from 15 different kinds of soy milks or 100 types of breakfast cereals. 121

138 lbs. But yes, there are a lot of overweight people. It's because our eating is different. We eat for every occasion and every possible reason. Not me though, I don't want to end up like that.
