i want to take picture of a construction site for my photography class. its an unfinished bridge but the gate says no trespassing. i was wondering if i could go to my town police office and maybe get a pass or a guide to go with me to the site so i can take pictures.

You would have to find out who owns/controls the property and who put up the sign. Get permission from them. Chances are the general contractor posted the sign.

If you have a dog, just let it loose on the property. You can follow it and take some pictures on your way. If someone says something just say your dog got loose and you had to go catch it. You could always sneak in after dark with a flashlight and your camera too. Maybe you can dress like a construction person, maybe with a yellow helmet and a clipboard and go in there on the weekend if nobody is working at the time.

No, you make that request of the owners. Unless the police have cause to enter, they have no right on the property either.

You already answered your own question. Just ask.

Either that or remove the sign so it is no longer telling you that tresspassing is prohibited and then take the picture anyway.
