my best friend's boyfriend is a wreck. he is on cocaine and he drinks alot; he looks wild-eyed, he is impulsive and moody, i am a little scared of him, he doesn't wash as often as he should, he collapses and then gets up like nothing has happened. but she wont leave him- she says he is too beautiful to give up (admittedly i used to fancy him- he is stunning!) but not anymore, cos he looks awful.
she says what he is doing is 'romantically self-destructive' and 'exciting'- she almost takes pleasure in his drug problem. i am worried for him, but more for her, because he might start hitting her or something. what would you do??

He's a train wreck. It doesn't matter how cute he is. A hot corpse is the same as a homely corpse. He, THEY, need help. She's enabling (so he stays w/her?) & he's using. Detox & counseling are in order. Talk to them before it's too late & one or both of them is DEAD.

Ultimatly it is her decision so no matter how hard you try to tell her its such a bad position to let herself stay in only she can decide. Maybe she really loves him and she knows that if she was to leave him now that he would totally break down and the turnout wouldn't be good. So unless he starts hitting her let her decided for herself. You live and learn right and this is a learning experience for her. Good luck, I'm sorry because this prob isn't the answer you were looking for but what can you do right? Except hope she gets her head straight and realizes that she is better off without him.

he needs some serious help... and did you ever think that maybe she just likes the way he is cuz it makes her feel better then herself... Maybe shes not feeling right about herself either.. so being in that kind of relationship brings her some sort of satisfaction.
I dont know y n e one would put up wtih that... she needs help and so does he... they need to both realize that their killing themselfs.. you friend even cuz i can imagine how hurt she truley is inside. if you are truley worried about him hitting her, tell somebody... get her family involved.. tell them you are concerned...and try to move on from there...
people who are drug addicted are the last people you'll need in your life... they will only bring you pain in the end.
Talk to her and him... cuz he may just be looking for the easy way out... and also needs someone to help him!! think about it... whatever you think would be best... i know you care.. and thats what the both need... someone like you..

Neither of them will change until they are forced to.
Try an anonymous call to the police when you know he possesses drugs. He could be forced into rehab or imprisoned, in which case your friend would probably break it off.
