tarheelb..I have a friend who works in the AD's office. He was given ultimatums and must have felt he could not meet them. It was a forced resignation and every KY fan knows it.

Nope sorry he was forced out the door before the tournament even started with too many demands, too much expectations, and too much criticism. Being a Tubby fan I don't fault him at all. I wouldn't stay where I wasn't wanted either. Kentucky got their wish and perhaps this time next year they'll have their regrets.
I like the idea of John Calipari coming to Kentucky. On the other hand.. look at your long lists of coaches and tell me who would want the pressure of pleasing the whole state of Kentucky on your shoulders?

The guy above me is right, no way would we want Pitino back. He's tainted.
In my fantasy world I would want Billy Donovan.
In reality, the best candidates who are out there who I could see actually leaving their job to come to UK would be Billy Gillespie (Texas A&M) and Tom Crean (Marquette). I think a serious fan favorite is Travis Ford (UMass) because of his Kentucky ties and he's been successful at both EKU and UMass. But I think he's a few years short of being experienced enough to handle what you have to handle at a program like Kentucky.
And as far as Tubby himself, I'm from Kentucky and know for a fact he was told either he had to get rid of his staff next year or he could just go ahead go. He's always been loyal to his staff, so he decided to go. He was definitely forced out because of the fans and boosters who were unhappy with not making a Final Four in almost 10 years. So essentially, if he didn't go this year they were going to get rid of him at the end of next season. Trust me, I liked him, but plenty of people here wanted him gone.

It is my understanding that the salary they get should cover any and all discomforts that they might have to deal with? It was probably with good reason that he left, one may never know. It is all a game anyway. Why is it so important when we have so much poverty and need in Kentucky to worry why a coach left a position like this? I guess living up to Kentucky's expectations is part of the reason he gets that salary. It keeps people's minds off of the real problems the state of Kentucky has. It is a form of entertainment.

Many think Billy D..he stays a Gator, as a thorn in UK's foot
Pitino, Does UK trust him to stay and finish the job?
Calipari, Crean, the A&M coach, and Pearl all would do fine...
If I had a say..It would be Mike Jarvis, though it probably wont happen...I had him pegged for UMinn,,so now why not KU.

I would like to see Ray Harper, current head coach at Oklahoma City University and former head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, take the lead at UK. He's a phenomenal coach, and a good ol' Kentucky Boy, to boot!

He was not forced to resigned. He did it on his own. He wasn't getting the appreciation he deserved so he quit with 4 years left to go to a place that would appreciate going to the tournament every year.

John Calipari, Billy Donovan, Tom Crean, my choice.... Bruce Pearl he has it all, style of play, he can recruit, salesman, personality, and x&o. I think Travis Ford would be a good backup plan if they can't get the others.
