lol you may want to re-word that.....SOME do I'm sure just not ALL. It IS partially a stereotype though.
Whatever you do, just don't p!ss a cop off like one of my friends did & drive around with "Bad Cop! No doughnut!" written really big on your back window. LOL!!!

I have a friend who's a deputy with the L.A. County sheriff's department. While he's always frequented donut shops, he definitely fits the profile because he goes even more often since he became a cop.
Apparently, a lot of these places are open all night, so they're a good place to stop in the middle of an all-night shift. And if you just need a little nosh in addition to cheap coffee, they're just a perfect place. Also - you don't want to be in the middle of a full meal if you're a cop on call, but it's easy to drop your donut at a moment's notice and rush off.
Donut shops love cops - for good reason. I think a lot of them would go out of business without them.

The answer is... Free food. Most restaurants either don't charge cops who lounge around their dining room for a few hours a night, or give them a huge discount, like $1 for a bottomless cup of coffee and a half dozen sinkers. Others point out that all night establishments like a cop hanging around to help prevent robberies, and I think this is so. In my younger days, I worked on the third shift at an all night restaurant, and the cops grew to the seats there, parking their butts in a booth from 2 in the morning until just before dawn. Everybody was happy... I think the waitresses welcomed the attention of the cops, and the cops got free food.

It is because doughnut shops are open all night, when cops are working, and most other places are not. And not all cops like them. I was a cop for 10 years and never set foot in one. Mostly, they go for a well earned coffee break. And your rude use of the term PIG, stands for Pride, Integrity, and Guts. Ever put your life on the line to save others?

I would rather doubt this has anything to do with being in law enforcement. Don't YOU like doughnuts? I do. I grew up in Richmond, Virginia with a Krispy Kreme about 5 minutes from my house. I swear I could HEAR the "Hot" sign click on - lol
I'd be more interested in why you would refer to men and women who, for little pay, will risk their life to protect you, as "pigs." Seems a bit disrespectful...
As an aside... stereotypically we offer apples to teachers, but I know a lot who would rather have a doughnut :)

I don't know that all police officers like donuts but I suppose in an effort to stay alert for long hours a cup of hot coffee is needed...and somehow apples just don't go with coffee as well as a warm donut. However, whatever the reason I would gladly pay for all the donuts and coffee for our local police officers if I could. Their job is by no means easy and they never know when they go to work if they'll see their family again. They deserve all the respect ...and donuts....in the world.
