Is there anyone out there who's ultrasound was wrong in predicting the gender of their baby? Did you try any of the old wives tales and have them turn out to be right? All the old wives tales say I am having a girl, but the ultrasound says boy. I am not 100% convinced that it wasn't the umbilical cord that I saw on the ultrasound, although the technician seemed really convinced it was a boy. I can hardly wait to have my baby either way, and can't wait to hold him/her. What are your experiences?

hehe, first of all how do you get pregnant when you still call it a nutsack and a pee pee? I didn't get any ultrasound pics of the genitals. I don't really believe the old wives tales, and know that they are all only 50% accurate, I was just wondering if anyone had them turn out to be true and the ultrasound wrong. Thanks for all the responses!!!

They get it wrong all the time! I can think of at least 4 people i know who were told they were having one thing only to be surprised inthe delivery room! If your not convinced, dont buy blue! I was reading something about old wives tales on the net a few months ago, and they all turned out to be as inaccurate as each other. But 90% of the mothers they tried these things on, guessed the gender of their baby right! Go with your intuition. Good luck whether it's a boy or a girl!

While it is possible to have an incorrect ultrasound gender prediction, its not all that common. Today, with the better ultrasound technology and better training its easier for them to see. Was it a clear shot? How experienced was the tech? Did he say how sure he was? Also, old wives tales have a 50/50 shot at being right. All of those said I was having a boy and I had two girls, lol. Ultrasound is far more accurate than wives tales. Can you link us to a pic of the ultrasound? Then people could give opinions. Best of luck with your little boy.

It's fairly rare now-a-days for an ultrasound to be wrong, although it's possible. Mine was right with my first (a girl) and I've had several with this one, and it's obvious that it's a boy. It's a good idea to ask the tech doing your US how long they've been doing it. If it's been for several years, you can bet they know exactly what you're having. The old wives tales are only right once in a while, just by coincidence. The way I was carrying with my first, several people thought it would be a boy and they were wrong! Go ahead and buy blue, and just keep the receipts. Good luck and congrats! :)

well my sister is over due now and just a couple of days she went to the Dr. because she thought her water bag had broke and so they did an ultrasound and told her she was not having a BOY like they said when she was 7months but that she is having a Girl so she really doesn't know what to think so I think the best way to go is do the 4D ultrasound I'm so sure those are the more accurate ones of all..... That's what I'm going to do because they said I am having a Girl but now I'm scared because what they had told my sister so Good Luck :)

If your ultrasound says it's a boy it more than likely is. With my first baby, I was told that it was going to be a girl...wrong he was a boy!! I had all girl stuff for him. SO, ultrasound is not 100% but it is very accurate! I have 4 children and they were right with my other children!! Congrats.

My sister's little girl was supposed to be a boy according to the ultrasound. One of my boys where spot on with the U/S. the other was shy and would never show his winky (all my U/S pictures of him he has his hands covering up his privates) My youngest now 8 was very proud of his and all the ultrasound pic have him poking it out. Funny thing is they are still that way The oldest (11) is very modest and shy and always has been and the little one is very open and outgoing.

Mine were right. So were the old wives tales. Usually, when it comes to wrong ultrasounds, it's when they say its a girl and turns out to be a boy. Because the testicles hadn't descended when its done.

I had 3 boys and all were picked on the ultrasound. If yours says your having a boy than that is what your having. Girl babies are harder to tell from ultrasound because the boys testies don't drop until later on in your pregnancy. My doctor was told he was having a boy and he had a girl. It does happen but they normally are spot on these days.

My ultrasounds were accurate both times. Everyone that I've ever known has always has had accurate ultrasounds. They're usually right.... start buying blue!!! Congrats!
FYI It's called a scrotum, not a nutsack...how crude
And a boy has a penis, not a pee pee...are you 12?
